Like a Girl Foundation challenges stereotypes and redefines what it truly means to do something “like a girl.” It stands for being strong, capable, and unapologetically yourself — proving that “like a girl” is not a weakness, but a powerful expression of strength. We believe every pre-teen and teen girl deserves the chance to grow, learn, and succeed. We understand that recognizing the generational divide comes first and developing the tools to cross it follows. Founded in 2018, Like a Girl, Inc was created to give young girls access to the knowledge, confidence, and real-world skills they need to prepare for their future careers. The foundation was established by Nichelle Drayton, whose passion for empowering young women comes from her own experiences navigating the early stages of her personal and professional development. Through previous volunteer mentorships and programs hosted by Like a Girl, Nichelle witnessed how many girls have the passion to grow but are held back personal and professional development because of financial limitations and other barriers. For Like a Girl, recognizing the issue and continuing to learn how to address it is an ongoing lasting commitment that shapes the mission we stand behind.
